Dyeing with cochineal

does anyone have experience dyeing with fresh cochineal.

I don't really want to destroy my cactus. Is there a way to take it off and then use it?

Just put on a new wrap on my loom.
The yarn is too loosely spun for the wrap. Had already several strings break.
But it looks stunning, the color.
Will use a white alpaca weft.

Some more weaving with the Blooming Leaf of Mexico Overshot Pattern

This time I played with dyed warp, using ribbon, cut fabric and funky yarn to weave with. At first my idea was to sew them together but then I preferred them as wall art, each one separate. Playing with the idea of framing them. Sometimes I just need time to think about it and look at it for some time.

I used a photo of myself, applied a psd filter, printed it on cotton fabric and handstitched quilted it.
But to me something is still missing. It still looks to 2 -D. Need to add some more stitching or beads?
