Something to ponder

What doesn't look right in June when it comes off the loom can bring a big surprise 6 months later, when the work gets untangled. Sitting here and finishing my pieces with woven glass and having one of those moments, gives me an appreciation for waiting and hoping.

What to do with artwork between exhibits?

By now I have a considerable amount of artwork created which takes up space between exhibits.
What do you do? Do you disassemble them and store them away? I had done that for a while and then a friend let me display my big pieces on her balcony. I like it because you are exposing artwork to more people as would ever go to a gallery or museum. While they walk they see something unexpected. If they look up........

Weaving with Construction Caution tape

It took me a long time to figure out which color to use as warp and then what weave structure to use.
It is for a rain poncho. The underside is mostly plain red perle cotton and will feel good to wear.

I can't ever see my pieces as a whole while I work on them - so I have to trust they come out okay.
I have a plan which often has to be readjust because the piece does not look what I intend it to look.

Sometimes you just need to have fun and weave with interesting fibers

A boat neck sweater made of warm wool and woven in diamond twill was a dominating fashion trend among reindeer hunters 1,700 years ago, according to researchers who have investigated an extremely well preserved Iron Age tunic found two years ago under melting snow in Norway.

Working on a new series: Modern Day Living

Here I am combining metal, sticks, fabric and plastic bags....
But it needs a lot of additional sewing to keep things in place and stable.

Fiber on the Edge Show in Austin

Just some photos I took last Saturday while visiting the show. All in all I was very pleased how well it looked. There were some very interesting pieces to see.

What to do with rusty heddles?

Why not integrate them in a weaving?

Can't wait to take it off the loom to see how it turns out. It is a fun project.

Roses

I haven't posted in a while because I was on vacation. I should post a few photos from Scotland.

But in between I have been weaving with roses:
